2025 Competition Ratios have been released by the UK Foundation Programme Office and are now included on all the competition ratio pages on the site.

This is the second year that allocation to Foundation Programme places was via the new Preference Informed Allocation (PIA) process.

This year saw a jump to 84% of applicants receiving their first choice Foundation School, 89% received one of their top 2 preferences, and 95% received one of their top 5 preferences.

6 Foundation Schools had competition ratios of more than 1:1 – London, North West, Oxford, Scotland, Severn and West Midlands Central.

The remaining Foundation Schools had competition ratios less than 1:1 – everyone ranking one of these Foundation Schools their first choice will have been allocated to it.

Further information can be found on the Competition ratio pages where you can find competition ratios by year and competition ratios by Foundation School. The 2025 data can be seen on the 2025 Competition Ratios page.
