Information about applying for the UK Foundation Programme
The deadline to submit an application to a Foundation Priority Programme (FPP) is the 8th of October 2025 (12:00 Midday BST).
As late submissions are not allowed there will be no way to apply if you miss the deadline.
Why should I apply for a Foundation Priority Programme?
FPPs offer a range of opportunities that may include the opportunity to be involved in different projects, the opportunity to study for a postgraduate qualification, or other incentives that you may not get on the standard Foundation Programme. These programmes may involve extra activities in medical education and teaching, research, entrepreneurship, or a chance to get more experience in different specialties.
How do I apply for a Foundation Priority Programme?
The application process is part of the Oriel application for Foundation Programme. You will indicate if you wish to apply for FPP alongside your application to the Foundation Programme.
You only rank the FPPs you wish to apply for – you do not need to rank all available programmes.
What happens to my FP application if I accept a FPP?
If you accept a FPP you will no longer be considered for a standard Foundation Programme and will be withdrawn from the PIA process for allocations to Foundation Programmes.
ONCE YOU ACCEPT A FOUNDATION PRIORITY PROGRAMME YOU CAN NO LONGER CHANGE TO A STANDARD FOUNDATION PROGRAMME
Please note if you accept a FPP offer but subsequently change your mind and wish to withdraw from that post, you would in effect be resigning from the Foundation Programme and withdrawing from the entire application process. You would no longer be allocated a standard Foundation Programme and would have to apply again the following year.
What happens to my FP application if I decline a FPP?
If you reject your FPP offer(s) your application to the standard Foundation Programme remains and you will be included in the PIA process for allocation to Foundation Programmes.
When do I apply for a Foundation Priority Programme?
The application process is part of the Oriel application for Foundation Programme. During the application process for the Foundation Programme you can indicate if you wish to also apply for the Foundation Priority Programme.
